ABOUT THE SERHA SADDLE CIRCUIT

The SERHA Saddle Series is hosted by the Southeastern Reining Horse Association (SERHA) in partnership with Jim Taylor Saddles.  Its purpose is to promote good sportsmanship and horsemanship through competition. A total of FOUR saddles will be awarded, one in each of the following divisions:

  • Novice Horse Non-Pro – All Levels
  • Novice Horse Open – All Levels
  • Rookie – All Levels
  • Green (NRHA Classes Only – Green I & II)

The saddles will be provided by Jim Taylor and will have a retail value of up to $4200.  This award will come in the form of a certificate good for ordering of the saddle.

RULES AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. Riders must be a current member in good standing of SERHA, prior to being eligible to earn points.  Points earned prior to payment of current year membership will not be awarded.

2. Riders must submit a nomination form and pay a nomination fee of $150.00 for each division they enter (and are eligible to compete in). Points will accrue AFTER payment and submission of nomination.  Payment due at the show they sign up for the series.

3. Horse/rider combinations are required. Riders can enter up to 3 horse/rider combinations (same rider/different horse) in a division. A separate nomination fee will be required for each horse/rider combination as follows:

a. nomination of 1st horse/rider in a division – $150.00
b. nomination of a 2nd horse (same rider/different horse) in the same division -$100.00
c. nomination of a 3rd horse (same rider/different horse) in the same division -$75.00

4. All 4 SERHA 2024 shows will be used in determining the winner. Riders will have to show in 3 of the 4 shows. The top 6 scores of the horse/rider combination will be used to calculate standings for Rookie (I, II & Prime Time) (8 total slates) and Green(I & II) (8 total slates), Novice Horse Open (I, II, III) (8 total slates), Novice Horse Non-Pro (I, II, III) (8 total slates).

5. You can show in all levels of each of class, but, only one score counts.  Example: You show in Novice Horse Open Level I, Level II and Level III and score a 71.  That score will be used.  If you only show in NHO Level I, that score will be used.  There is no limit to the number of classes shown, just know that the single rider/horse combo score will be used.

6. The following 2024 shows will be used for awarding points for this saddle circuit:

a. SERHA March into spring – March 21-24 Williamston, NC
b. SERHA Carolina Classic – May 30-June 2 Williamston, NC
c. SERHA Main Event – July 8-14 , NC
d. SERHA Fall Spooktacular – October 24-27 Williamston, NC

7. Winners will be announced following the conclusion of the final show of the circuit, the SERHA Fall Spooktacular. If there is a tie, it will be broken using the following criteria until the tie is broken:  In all cases, the money, points, etc. that are used to break ties will correspond to the six scores that resulted in the first-place tie:

a. A tie breaker will be used in the form of the following:

i. A random number will be drawn from 1-6.  This represents the number of slates in our show series.  The random number drawn will be used as the tie breaker slate and whomever had the highest score will be the winner.

ii. In the event there is still a tie, see section (b) below.

b. A Point scale, consistent with the NRHA youth scale, will be the second tie breaker.  The same four (4) classes will be used as in previous calculations.  For example, if there were 10 riders and the horse/rider received first place, then he/she will receive 10 points.  Second place will receive 9 points and so on.  See NRHA handbook page 75.

8. Second places prizes will be awarded in all four divisions.  In the event of a tie, a coin toss will be used to determine who receives the second-place award.

9. All applicable NRHA rules will be utilized in these classes.

10. SERHA Saddle Series reserves the right to revise these conditions as circumstances and show conditions dictate and will communicate this out to the participants.
